The Birmingham Gems Calendar is back and I am fortunate to have one Photograph in this years Edition. I have secured the month of May and it is when the blossoms are in full riot. The Ikon Gallery provides the backdrop to the pink blossom. Thank you to all at Birminghamweare and all the other brilliant photographers. A few pictures of Trees and some Birmingham locations this Christmas

Towards the end of November, we spent a weekend away celebrating Sandy’s birthday and we chose to go to Chester which is a familiar place to both of us. Sandy had her 18th birthday party in the Grosvenor Hotel and I had many happy visits to the place with my parents. It was lovely to go back and walk down memory lane. On the Saturday, the town was busy with shoppers and the evening more so as the City lights were being turned on for the evening. We spend some time in the Cathedral and it was lovely to linger in the building not under any rush to get back home. The next morning I got up early and went for a walk around the Roman history of the City and down to the River Dee.

I had another chance to visit Dubai and see the Campus which is now open for business. The City is still fun to visit although as I mentioned in my last blog it is sand, concrete and steel. A year later and I noticed a lot more new buildings. In some cases the photographs I had taken in 2017 would not be possible now. Fortunately there were new possibilities available and a selection are shown in my blog. I took my trusty travel camera the Sony RX100v5 with me. As you can see it is very versatile and offers the ability to capture the sight and sounds of this amazing city.
